How mobile battery replacement works

You call or fill out the form with your year, make, and model. We look up the exact group size, terminal layout, cold-cranking amps, and whether your car needs a standard flooded, EFB, or AGM battery. You get a firm, all-in price on the phone before anyone drives anywhere.

The tech rolls to your car with the matching battery on the van. First step is always a quick test of the old battery and the alternator — if the battery actually tests fine and the real issue is a corroded clamp or a weak alternator, we tell you before selling you anything. If it's the battery, we connect a memory saver so your radio presets, clock, and engine-computer settings survive the swap, then pull the old battery, clean the tray and cable ends, set the new battery, secure the hold-down, and protect the terminals with anti-corrosion treatment.

Most installs take 15 to 30 minutes once we're on-site. Vehicles with the battery under a seat, in the trunk, or behind the wheel-well liner take a bit longer — we know where they hide. On cars that require it (many BMW, Audi, VW, Mercedes, Ford, and start-stop vehicles) we register the new battery to the car's computer so the charging system treats it correctly. Before we leave, we re-run the charging-system test so you drive away knowing the whole system is healthy.

What we replace on-site

  • Standard flooded batteries — the most common sedans, SUVs, crossovers, and pickups on Tampa roads
  • AGM batteries — luxury vehicles and anything with heavy electrical loads; we carry the common group sizes
  • EFB / start-stop batteries — cars that shut the engine off at red lights need the right battery type, not a cheaper substitute
  • Hidden-battery vehicles — under-seat, trunk-mounted, and behind-the-fender batteries
  • Battery registration — coding the new battery to the vehicle's computer where the manufacturer requires it
  • Light trucks & work vans — dual-battery diesel pickups, fleet vans, and delivery vehicles
  • Old-battery recycling — every core goes back for proper lead-acid recycling, never left in your garage

What mobile battery replacement costs in Tampa

Most standard car batteries land at $180 to $290 installed, including the battery, delivery, installation, terminal protection, a before-and-after charging-system test, and recycling of the old battery. There's no fuel surcharge, no after-hours fee, and no separate "trip charge" — the number we quote on the phone is the number on your receipt.

AGM and EFB start-stop batteries cost more because the batteries themselves cost more: typically $260 to $420 installed. Vehicles that need battery registration, or batteries mounted under a seat or in the trunk, may add $25 to $60 for the extra labor — we'll always tell you that on the call. Every new battery comes with a free-replacement warranty, usually 2 to 3 years depending on the battery.

Why mobile beats the parts store

  • Your car can't drive to the store: A dead battery means the car that needs the part can't go get it. We bring it.
  • Right battery the first time: We match group size, terminal layout, CCA, and battery type — no second trip for the wrong one.
  • Settings protected: A memory saver keeps your radio, clock, and engine-computer settings intact during the swap.
  • Test before and after: We confirm the battery was the problem, then confirm the alternator is charging the new one.
  • No heavy lifting: Car batteries weigh 35 to 60 pounds. Let us handle the lifting and the corroded clamps.
  • Old battery handled: We take the core for recycling so it isn't sitting in your garage for a year.

Common Questions

Battery Replacement FAQ.

Common signs are a slow or labored crank, rapid clicking when you turn the key, dim headlights at idle, a battery warning light, or a battery older than three years — Florida heat shortens battery life a lot. The only way to know for sure is a load test, which we do free on-site before recommending a replacement.

Most installs take 15 to 30 minutes once the tech arrives. Batteries mounted under a seat, in the trunk, or behind a fender liner can take 30 to 60 minutes. Add the ETA — usually 30 to 60 minutes inside Tampa — and most customers are driving again within an hour or so of calling.

Not with us. We connect a memory saver before disconnecting the old battery so your radio presets, clock, seat memory, and engine-computer learned values stay intact. On vehicles that require it, we also register the new battery to the car's computer.

Yes. Our vans carry AGM and EFB batteries in the most common group sizes alongside standard flooded batteries. If your vehicle originally came with an AGM, it should get an AGM replacement — putting in a cheaper flooded battery can shorten its life and confuse the charging system.

Every new battery includes a free-replacement warranty, typically 2 to 3 years depending on the battery line, plus a 30-day workmanship guarantee on the installation. Your warranty details and test printout are emailed to you with the receipt.

Usually, yes. If the car is accessible and you can leave the keys with a neighbor, in a lockbox, or with a front desk, we can do the job and text you photos, the test results, and the receipt. Payment can be taken over the phone.
